Clayton Blackburn traded to Rangers

Clayton Blackburn was traded by the San Francisco Giants to the Texas Rangers on April 16, 2017. The Giants in exchange received Frandy De La Rosa and cash.

RHP Blackburn was 0-0, 15.00 ERA, 1 K, 2.33 WHIP, .400 BAA in 3.0 IP in 1 GS at Triple A Sacramento in 2017 and 7-10, 4.36 ERA, 101 K, 1.30 WHIP, .266 BAA in 136.1 IP over 25 games with 23 GS at Sacramento in 2016. He was originally drafted by the Giants in the 16th round in 2011. Blackburn turned 24 on January 6th.

De La Rosa is a second baseman who hit 3 for 28, .107/.242/.179 with 0 HR, 0 RBI, 3 R, 0 SB in 8 games at Class A Advanced Down East in 2017 and 106 for 424, .250/.330/.351 with 7 HR, 39 RBI, 54 R, 19 SB in 118 games at Class A Hickory in 2016. He originally signed with the Cubs in 2013 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic and was traded to the Rangers in 2015. De La Rosa turned 21 on January 24.
