Jose Quintana traded to Cubs

Jose Quintana was traded by the Chicago White Sox to the Chicago Cubs on July 13, 2017. The White Sox in exchange received Dylan Cease, Bryant Flete, Eloy Jimenez and Matt Rose. 

LHP Quintana was 4-8, 4.49 ERA, 109 K, 1.32 WHIP, .246 BAA in 104.1 IP over 18 GS with the White Sox in 2017. Over six MLB seasons with the White Sox he was 50-54, 3.51 ERA, 890 K, 1.25 WHIP, .257 BAA in 1055.1 IP over 172 games with 169 GS. He originally signed with the Mets in 2006 as an amateur free agent out of Columbia. Quintana turned 28 on January 24.

RHP Cease was 1-2, 2.79 ERA, 74 K, 1.26 WHIP, .214 BAA in 51.2 IP over 13 GS at Class A South Bend in 2017. He was originally drafted by the Cubs in the sixth round in 2014. Cease turned 21 on December 28.

Second baseman Bryant Flete hit 84 for 275, .305/.355/.425 with 6 HR, 37 RBI, 45 R, 4 SB in 70 games at Class A Advanced Myrtle Beach in 2017. He originally signed with the Cubs in 2012 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Flete turned 24 on January 31.

Outfielder Jimenez hit 42 for 155, .271/.351/.490 with 8 HR, 32 RBI, 23 R, 0 SB in 42 games at Myrtle Beach in 2017. He originally signed with the Cubs in 2013 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. Jimenez turned 20 on November 27.

First baseman Rose hit 53 for 233, .227/.281/.481 with 14 HR, 38 RBI, 30 R, 0 SB in 65 games at Myrtle Beach in 2017. He was originally drafted by the Cubs in the 11th round in 2015. Rose will be 23 on August 2nd.
