Tony Cingrani traded to Dodgers

Tony Cingrani was traded by the Cincinnati Reds to the Los Angeles Dodgers on July 31, 2017. The Reds in exchange received Scott Van Slyke and Hendrik Clementina.

LHP Cingrani had split 2017 between Class A Dayton and Triple A Louisville while rehabbing and with the Reds. He was 0-0, 0.00 ERA, 0 K, 1.00 WHIP, .000 BAA in 1.0 IP in 1 GS at Dayton, 0-0, 0.00 ERA, 1 K, 1.00 WHIP, .000 BAA in 2.0 IP in 2 games at Louisville and 0-0, 5.40 ERA, 24 K, 1.33 WHIP, .272 BAA in 23.1 IP over 25 games with the Reds. Over six MLB seasons with the Reds he was 11-20, 4.03 ERA, 302 K, 1.35 WHIP, .231 BAA, 17 SV in 292.2 IP over 164 games with 30 GS. He was originally drafted by the Reds in the third round in 2011. Cingrani turned 28 on July 5th.

Outfielder Van Slyke had split 2017 between Triple A Oklahoma City and with the Dodgers. He hit 44 for 182, .242/.332/.390 with 5 HR, 20 RBI, 30 R, 1 SB in 55 games at Oklahoma City and 5 for 41, .122/.250/.293 with 2 HR, 3 RBI, 6 R, 1 SB in 29 games with the Dodgers. Over six MLB seasons with the Dodgers he hit .242/.326/.417 with 29 HR, 95 RBI, 84 R, 11 SB in 355 games. He was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the 14th round in 2005. Van Slyke turned 31 on July 24.

Catcher Clementina hit 34 for 92, .370/.439/.554 with 4 HR, 25 RBI, 17 R, 0 SB in 24 games at Rookie Ogden in 2017.  His minor league career caught stealing rate is 28%. He originally signed with the Dodgers in 2013 as an amateur free agent out of Curacao. Clementina turned 20 on June 17.
