Yu Darvish traded to Dodgers

Yu Darvish was traded by the Texas Rangers to the Los Angeles Dodgers on July 31, 2017. The Rangers in exchange received Willie Calhoun, A.J. Alexy and Brendon Davis.

RHP Darvish was 6-9, 4.01 ERA, 148 K, 1.17 WHIP, .225 BAA in 137.0 IP over 22 GS with the Rangers in 2017. Over five MLB seasons with the Rangers he was 52-39, 3.42 ERA, 960 K, 1.18 WHIP, .218 BAA in 782.2 IP over 122 GS. He originally signed with the Rangers in 2012 as a free agent out of Japan. Darvish will be 31 on August 16.

Second baseman Calhoun hit 111 for 373, .298/.357/.574 with 23 HR, 67 RBI, 64 R, 3 SB in 99 games at Triple A Oklahoma City in 2017. He was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the fourth round in 2015. Calhoun turned 22 on November 4th.

RHP Alexy was 2-6, 3.67 ERA, 86 K, 1.13 WHIP, 180 BAA in 73.2 IP over 19 GS at Class A Great Lakes in 2017. He was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the 11th round in 2016. Alexy turned 19 on April 21. 

Shortstop Davis had split 2017 between Great Lakes and Class A Advanced Rancho Cucamonga. He hit 76 for 310, .245/.357/.403 with 8 HR, 35 RBI, 39 R, 3 SB in 86 games at Great Lakes and 6 for 30, .200/.273/.400 with 1 HR, 8 RBI, 2 R, 0 SB in 8 games at Rancho Cucamonga. He was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the fifth round in 2015. Davis turned 20 on July 28.
